Hello and thanks for visiting the website for our new film, “Our Irish Cousins”. Although we’ve been working on the film only for the last three years, you might say it’s been a labor of love since 1829 when my great grandfather Tom Houlihan was born in Kilrush, County Clare.
The story of any documentary film is undiscovered until all the footage is screened and that’s also true of “Our Irish Cousins”. We launched our book tour as the recession was hitting the world in 2008 and we’ve seen some rough times since then but we’ve also discovered our fortune in our Irish heritage. Making your Celtic connection is a bit like hitting the lottery; you suddenly realize you are heir to a vast and timeless legacy of character, perseverance, and joyful delight in just being alive.
We’re excited to finally post our trailer for “Our Irish Cousins” and hope you take ten minutes to watch it and join us in this continuing journey home. We have been blessed with a challenge grant from the Richard H. Driehaus Charitable Lead Trust and ask you to please donate whatever you can to help us finish our film. We need to raise an additional $30,000 to bring the film to market and pay our creative partners for their inspiring contributions.
If you can help us we’ll make sure your name is counted among the valiant and generous friends who have brought us this far. Please make your check payable to The Center For Independent Documentary/Our Irish Cousins and mail it to us at the address below. Your gift has greater value because each dollar is matched by our challenge grant. And remember its tax deductible, just like church!
I’ll keep you posted on our progress on this blog and what’s next for “Our Irish Cousins”.
Thanks,
Mike Houlihan
